Center Director Julie Tanenbaum is a registered and certified Music Together® teacher who has been teaching piano in the Bay Area for more than 20 years. She grew up performing in the Bread and Puppet Theater in New York City and studied piano throughout her childhood. She earned a degree in piano performance and pedagogy through Mills College. Julie has performed in the US and Europe in solo piano recitals and in duos with her husband, classical guitarist David Tanenbaum. Julie became interested in early childhood music education after the birth of her son, Zachary, in 1992. She founded East Bay Music Together in 1997. Julie was awarded Certification Level 2 by Center for Music and Young Children founder Director Ken Guilmartin in 2001 for outstanding achievement in teaching and program articulation. Julie is an Associate Trainer of new teachers entering the Music Together teaching field. She is also trained in the Orff Schulwerk approach to childhood music education.
